I’m a writer, editor and content strategist based in London available for hire. I consider myself a time-efficient generalist, always aiming to capture the imagination through human storytelling. I’m well-versed in tech and sustainability in B2B and the creative industries, as well as lifestyle, arts, culture and travel. Last year, I had a chapter on Reykjavik published in an LGBTQ+ travel book: The Rough Guide to Top LGBTQ+ Friendly Places in Europe. I also like poetry every now and then, and recently had my poem, ‘Deptford Creek’, commended in the top 9% of submissions by The Bridport Prize for Poetry in September 2024.
I have over six years of experience in publishing, from book publishing and content marketing to long-form journalism. I most recently worked at New Statesman Media Group on commercial content campaigns, and after two redundancies in two years thanks to company budget cuts, I’ve decided to carve out my own path in freelance content writing and copywriting. I have written for Campaign Magazine’s Power 100 2024 list, the New Statesman, Elite Traveler, Nonchalant Magazine, Tech Monitor & GUAP Magazine, and multiple trade and B2B titles. I’ve written articles, whitepapers, social media copy, newsletters, video scripts and more, functioning as a brand guardian for all kinds of tones of voice (TOV) across a vast range of brands and publications with different desired audiences.
When I’m not pitching article ideas, I seek to help small businesses better tell their story with my copy and content writing skills, always embedding SEO best practices along the way so your audience can find you. I keep an empathetic approach in everything I do, to find the best way to tell a story.
If you have a commission for me or could do with my content ideas and writing capabilities, then please get in touch with an outline at lvhurrell@gmail.com or fill in the contact form on this site. Thanks!
